| Ben's place continues to welcome abandoned
and stray dogs from Holmes County, surrounding counties and even other states. We are
working hard to create a safe and healthy environment for abandoned and lost dogs. When dogs arrive at Ben's Place they are bathed, fed regularly and recieve vaccinations. They also receive a lot of love. Our volunteers are giving care-takers that also show the dogs love and affection. We try to socialize the dogs and prepare them for life with a new family. We are located in Holmes County Florida. Holmes County does not have an SPCA, a humane society, a shelter (besides Ben's Place) or any other place where abandoned and stray dogs can be housed temporarily. As a result there are many abandoned pets that are dumped in our community. The problem here is huge and we created Ben's Place to be a safe haven for these lost or abandoned pets. We plan on implementing a spay and neuter program in the future to help control the number of unwanted pets within our community. With support and donations from our community and loving donations from others not living in our community, we hope to be able to continue with our effort for years to come.The number of dogs that we can accept into our shelter is limited by the amont of space we have, The foster homes available and the funds available to feed and care for the dogs. Once a dog is accepted, it is placed in a foster home until it is ready for adoption. While in foster care, our dogs receive any needed medical care as well as socialization skills and of course lots of love and affection from the foster family. We Do Not euthanize dogs. We make every effort to do whatever we can to bring our dogs to an adoptable state and find them a home.
